CITY SIGHTSEEING TOUR BY BUS

  • Pick-up at the hotels at 15.00 h.

    The aim of the visit is showing the city through an attractive tour, explaining the most important tourist sites in Santander: its streets and historical places, its ensemble of beaches as well as its more representative monuments and buildings.

    The city tour will make a few stops in the most emblematic places such us the Cathedral and the Lighthouse so that the visitors can take pictures of everything. Santander is an elegant city which extends over a wide bay with views of the Cantabrian Sea. Its historic quarter includes a group of majestic buildings which are situated against an incredible natural backdrop of sea and mountains. Its marine and commercial tradition is linked to a century old history of tourism, which has its main attractions in the famous “El Sardinero” beaches, its promenades, “La Magdalena” Palace and its peninsula and the lighthouse from where the visitor can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Cantabrian sea.

  • Return to the hotels at 17.30 h.

LIEBANA VALLEY & PICOS DE EUROPA. Day Trip

It is one of the most visited areas in Cantabria which boasts natural landscapes of extraordinary beauty.

  • Pick-up at the hotels at 8.30 h.

    A drive through the steep gorge of La Hermida, an imposing 20-kilometre-long channel carved out of the limestone of the Picos de Europa by the river Deva.

  • Visit to the Monastery of Sto. Toribio de Liébana.

    It is renowned as being the home of a relic named the “Lignum Crucis”, reputed to be the largest known piece of the cross of Christ.

  • Go up through the valleys until Fuente De cable car, which takes the visitors to an altitude of 1800 metres, passing through the impressive Fuente De glacier cirque, in the heart of the central range of the Picos de Europa.

  • Lunch in a typical local restaurant.
  • Walking tour around Potes.

    Potes is one of the most attractive villages in the northern Spanish region of Cantabria. Located in the centre of Liebana district, it is an area surrounded by spectacular mountains, running streams and clear rivers. Its streets have many bridges and outstanding buildings and monuments, such as the Infantado and Orejón de la Lama Towers (15th century). The historic part of the village is full of narrow streets and stately houses, symbols of its former splendour. It is the ideal place to buy the typical local products of the district such us autochthonous cheeses, orujo, honey and cheek peas.

  • Arrival in Santander at 18.00 h.

ALTAMIRA NEOCAVE & SANTILLANA DEL MAR. Day Trip

  • Pick-up at the hotels at 9.00 h.
  • Visit to the Altamira Neocave.

    On a top of a hill is the Altamira Cave which is declared a “World Heritage Site” by UNESCO. The original cave is closed to the public, but visitors can visit the “Neocave”, an exact reproduction of the original space with all its cracks and textures and the permanent exhibition “The Times of Altamira”, which introduces visitors to the prehistory of the Peninsula and rupestrian art.

  • Visit to Santillana del Mar.

    The medieval town of Santillana del Mar with its cobbled streets is declared a “Site of Artistic and Historical Importance” and for decades has been one of the best-known cultural and tourist centres in Cantabria. It boasts an extraordinary architectural heritage of towers, stately houses and palaces. From a religious point of view, the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana is outstanding. The church dates back to the 12th century and gives its name to the village.

  • Lunch in a typical local restaurant.
  • Arrival in Santander at 16.00 h.
